After Coco Gauff secured the 2025 French Open title on Saturday, Flau’jae Johnson’s mom, Kia Brooks, sent a heartfelt tribute for her.
Brooks reposted an image from Essence celebrating Gauff’s win, with the world No. 2 proudly holding the iconic Coupe Suzanne Lenglen trophy. Brooks also praised the tennis star.
“Amazing… so proud of you beautiful!! ❤️ @cocogauff,” Brooks wrote.

Gauff’s victory marked her second Grand Slam title, and her first at Roland Garros since she burst onto the international scene as a teenager. She won the final against Aryna Sabalenka despite losing the first set 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Brooks’ message was more than just a congratulatory note, it was a moment of pride for the basketball mom. Meanwhile, Johnson and Gauff share a connection as they are investors in the 3x3 Unrivaled basketball league after Gauff was announced in January.
Johnson cheered for Gauff in the semifinal, where she defeated Lois Boisson 6-1, 6-2. After the final, the LSU guard shared a post from Gauff and reacted to an interview about her victory.
Flau’jae Johnson drops personal music track ahead of final LSU season
LSU guard and rapper Flau’jae Johnson continues to prove her versatility on and off the court, in music, culture and basketball. Heading into her final season under Kim Mulkey, Johnson announced a personal milestone in her music career: the release of her latest single, “Remember When.”
On Friday, Johnson shared the news with her fans on Instagram, giving them a heartfelt song about her journey.
“New Music Friday 🔥,” Johnson wrote.
On Thursday, Johnson explained that “Remember When” was more than just another track, as it was a tribute to her journey, growth and her late father’s legacy.
“This one’s personal. 100,” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “For my family, my fans (y’all ARE family), and for my pops — his legacy lives through every bar I spit.”
Johnson also reflected on her evolution from a young girl on "America’s Got Talent" and "The Rap Game" to a national champion, businesswoman and respected artist.
“My first season at LSU, first brand deal, first award show, first time performing for a sold-out crowd, my first time buying land — just know, we came a long way," Johnson wrote. "I’m still her, just elevated. I’m the Don Daughter. Always have been. Always will be.”
Johnson, signed by Roc Nation, has balanced her basketball and music careers with purpose.
Last season, she averaged 18.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Johnson led the Tigers to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament, including a standout 28-point performance in their loss to UCLA. She earned first-team All-SEC honors despite missing the SEC Tournament due to shin inflammation.
