After dropping her debut album on June 28, performing in the ESPYs on July 11 and lifting the WNBA All-Star weekend, Flau'jae Johnson adds another feather to her musical cap. In her latest feat, the $1.2 million valued NIL athlete is sending waves across the global basketball space through her collaboration with the WNBA.
As the "Official Anthem of the WNBA" releases, it showcases a surprising verse from Flau’jae Johnson. Donned in a vibrant Lakers’ jacket, the rapper brings her signature flow to the Culture Jam song alongside BIA and Lakeyah.
After steadily creating the buzz around the song with regular behind-the-scenes videos, Flau'jae Johnson, BIA and Lakeyah posted three contrasting snippets from the music video on their Instagram.
The music video showcases Lakeyah and BIA making a road trip from Los Angeles to Phoenix as the LSU star cameos for the finishing verse of the song. The feature further solidifies Flau’jae Johnson’s multi-career venture as the track will be the official WNBA song on ESPN.
Flau'jae Johnson aims to continue her career pursuits on and off the court
Flau'jae Johnson was part of BET's inaugural culture class and got a chance to speak with former NFL quarterback Cam Newton in a brief interview. Newton, having dedicated 11 years to NFL, picked Johnson's brain on finding success through dual careers.
"You know you could do two things at one time. I mean being a father is a full-time job, being an NFL player is a full-time job," Johnson replied.
Flau'jae Johnson's love for music and rap was already known after her 'The Rap Game' stint as a teenager and the 'America's Got Talent' performance the next year.
Nevertheless, she caught the attention of the masses through her instrumental role during LSU's 2023 championship run. Johnson plans to rest the mic as soon as the college basketball season begins and focus completely on her role with the Tigers.
