When Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders took charge of the Colorado Buffaloes football program, he brought his family with him. The work of Shedeur, Shilo, and Deion Jr. is well known around the college sports world.

However, his sons didn't move to Boulder alone. His daughter, Shelomi Sanders, played on the Colorado Buffaloes women's basketball team. However, this did not last long, much to Deion Sanders's dismay.

Deion's ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, supported Shelomi's decision to transfer out of the Buffaloes. When the news broke that the guard would leave the Buffs for Alabama A&M in April, she posted the following message on Instagram, accompanied by numerous pictures of her daughter.

"So proud of my beautiful babes! You have the courage, confidence, strength, and character to go anywhere, the drive to be the best and WIN. So happy you’re not settling, It’s your life to live, so live it with love, passion, adventure and everything you’ve got! I love you so much❤️🩷❤️🩷❤️ congratulations❤️"

Shelomi Sanders's decision to leave Colorado was based on the lack of playing time and disagreement with the playing culture around the women's basketball team.

The 20-year-old had limited game time with the Buffaloes and could only score three points all season. This was the same pattern seen when Shelomi was with Jacksonville State (the other team Deion Sanders coached).

Although this season is still young, Shelomi's career has finally taken off with her performances in the past two seasons with Alabama A&M.

She has eight points and two assists (the first time she has done that in College Basketball) and has played as many games this season (five) as she did with the Buffs all season.

While Shelomi Sanders is now thriving with the Bulldogs, her initial decision to do this did not go down well with her father, Deion Sanders. The Clarion-Ledger reported his feelings in the Apr. 26 issue.

"You get a team before you enter the portal," Sanders said. "That’s what I would advise a child. I know it’s illegal, c’mon, c’mon."

Furthermore, in the piece, Coach Prime discussed his thoughts on his family leaving the teams he is involved in.

"You have to understand. I am a real father; I am a real man and a real dad. Where I come from and historically, kids follow their parents. When do parents start following their kids? That doesn't work in my book," Deion Sanders said.
"That does not work where I am from. I am the leader of the family, I have been dictating where my kids go, not them dictating where I go.”

This quote tells us a lot about Deion Sanders. If he was this unhappy about his daughter leaving his program, what would Coach Prime say about the 2025 NFL draft, which might feature Shedeur and Shilo Sanders?
