Paige Bueckers captioned the post:
"Happy thanksgiving."
"Dear Lord, today I stand before You declaring that my gratitude is my weapon!" the post by Pastor West read. "Even when life doesn't make sense, I choose to thank You. I thank You in every circumstance, believing that my praise shifts the atmosphere.
"Empower me to remember Your faithfulness, to speak Your promises aloud, and to live in victory. Let my thanksgiving unlock doors and break chains. In Jesus' name. Amen."
Paige Bueckers named MVP after UConn holds off Ole Miss to win Baha Mar Women's Championship
Paige Bueckers was the star of the Baha Mar Women's Championship final between UConn and Ole Miss on Wednesday night. The veteran shooting guard scored 29 points on 11-of-7 shooting, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. She also had a combined 47 points with friend and teammate Azzi Fudd, who scored 18 points on her return to the court after a one-year absence.
The Huskies led 22 points in the first half but almost blew the lead in the third quarter as the Rebels scored 15 points to close the gap to 41-38. However, Bueckers kept her composure and had the Huskies up 52-46 as they went into the fourth quarter.
UConn was in total control in the fourth quarter, having scored as many as 10 points at the start of the final quarter. The Rebels could not replicate their earlier burst and could only close the gap to a distant nine points. As a result, the Huskies finished with a 13-point win and walked away with the title.
"Yeah, I mean, this is what we came here to do," Bueckers said after the game. "Obviously, it was a business trip-a little bit different than Storrs, being here in the Bahamas. So, it's been fun, but we all came here for a purpose and for a reason."
Although Paige Bueckers had an uncharacteristic five turnovers, she was still named the MVP of the Baha Mar Championship after averaging 26.0 points. Next, the Huskies will return home to host Holy Cross on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Gampel Pavilion.
