Azzi Fudd has a healthy status heading into tonight's matchup against the Oregon State Beavers. She has no injuries listed, having made her season debut against FDU on Nov. 20. The confirmation of her being on the court for the game will be given before the 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off.
Azzi Fudd is ready to help UConn after full recovery from injury
Azzi Fudd made her anticipated return to the Huskies after making a full recovery from a severe injury.
The injury occurred two games into the 2023-24 season, when she suffered a torn ACL during a team practice and was sidelined for the remainder of the year.
It was the second straight season where Fudd had an injury that shut her down for the rest of the campaign. She only appeared in 15 games in the last two seasons, a significant contrast to the 25 games she played in her freshman year.
In the 2021-22 season, she averaged 12.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, an assist and a steal per game on 45.7% shooting from the field and 43% from beyond the arc. She landed on the Big East All-Freshman Team, and thanks to her performances in the NCAA Tournament, Fudd was named to the Bridgeport All-Region Team.
Fudd made her anticipated return in the aforementioned game against FDU, getting 13 minutes of action on the court. She only had four points, a rebound and a steal, but helped UConn cruise to an 85-41 blowout victory against the Knights.
She re-joins a Huskies team that is off to a 4-0 start. They are scoring 81.5 points on 51.7% shooting overall on offense while giving up just 45 points per game on 33.8% shooting from their opponents.
The constant ball movement, dishing out 22.3 assists per contest, has allowed UConn to dominate in the scoring aspect.
After the game against Oregon State, Azzi Fudd and No. 2 UConn will return home to host Holy Cross at the Harry Gampel Pavilion on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. ET.
