USC guard JuJu Watkins has established herself as one of the best scorers in women's college basketball through the first two seasons of her college career. Next season, she will be expected to take the lead as the Trojans try to compete for a national championship.

On Thursday, the Overtime Select Instagram account posted a clip of Watkins and 2026 recruit Stella Lockhart speaking about their sleep setups. Lockhart started, setting the scene with a complex setup with several blankets and pillows:

"Has to be cold. I sleep with like four blankets and then two pillows under my head and one next to me. What's yours?"

Watkins then responded:

"Honestly, one blanket, one pillow. I don't know, I'm just very classic. I just like go to the side."

Someone from off-camera then made a joke about Watkins' sleep setup:

"It's like prison."

Watkins responded, defending herself for how she sleeps:

"I don't know, it's just like, I was raised like that."

Despite her minimalist sleep setup, JuJu Watkins has managed to establish herself as a superstar in college basketball. This past season, she averaged 23.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 3.4 apg, 2.2 spg and 1.8 bpg. It was a hugely impressive statline, but was still a slight step back from her freshman year when she averaged 27.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.3 spg and 1.6 bpg.

JuJu Watkins' return timeline unclear

JuJu Watkins played a huge role in helping the USC Trojans become one of the top seeds in March Madness this past season. However, in the second round, Watkins tore her right ACL five minutes into the game. While the Trojans were able to advance to the Elite Eight without her, they lost to the eventual national champions, the UConn Huskies, 78-64.

A torn ACL is a severe injury that could keep JuJu Watkins out for quite some time. She is almost certain to miss the start of the season, and if her recovery goes slowly, she could miss the entire campaign.

Neither Watkins nor the coaching staff has provided an update on how Watkins is progressing in her recovery. Injuries of this nature can often lead to players being out for a year or longer.
