Liam McNeeley is yet to announce his decision for the upcoming season. The No. 16 overall recruit in 247Sports' 2024 class averaged 12.5 points, 2.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds a game this past season.

After an initial commitment to Indiana, Liam went back on his decision, opting out on March 8.

Let us look at likely destinations for the 6'7" small forward.

Which schools have a chance of nabbing Liam McNeeley?

The biggest contenders for Liam McNeeley are UConn, Kansas, Houston, Michigan, and Kentucky. The offer from Michigan stood out to McNeeley for one key reason.

"New Michigan head coach Dusty May said I was his first recruiting call. That was special," Liam McNeeley told ESPN.

With Coach Dusty May bagging Justin Pippen for this year's class, McNeeley could be a prize acquisition for the new head coach in Michigan.

Further, the direct line of communication to coaches extended to Indiana, where head coach Mike Woodson was the first to know of his de-commitment to the program.

"I personally reached out to Indiana, spoke with coach Mike Woodson and had a direct conversation with him. I expressed my utmost respect for coach Woodson, IN University, and their devoted fan base."

Among the other suitors, Houston could be a lucrative option with the Cougars being a perennial 30-win team over the past few seasons under coach Kelvin Sampson. However, the most likely destination for McNeeley remains Kansas.

Kansas has the longest active streak of NCAA tournament appearances at 16.

A consistent threat for the title, they were the last team to raise the NCAA title before back-to-back runs by the UConn Huskies.

The scouting report on Liam McNeeley

At 6'7", Liam McNeeley has the frame to be a lethal weapon in multiple facets of the game. Throughout his high school career, he has already shown promise in every category.

He shot better than 40% from long range, while his high basketball IQ and willingness to make the extra pass make him a problem when attacking defenders.

Regularly allowed to conduct the offense at Monteverde, Liam McNeeley was able to develop a strong feel for the game.

As the secondary decision-maker in half-court sets, Liam could serve as a major boost for whichever team he chooses to join.
