After TCU's 86-46 victory over Idaho State Sunday, coach Mark Campbell spoke about the importance of communication at a high level and how the Horned Frogs are on a journey to be a solid unit on the court.
Campbell pinpointed areas of improvement for Hailey Van Lith and the rest of the squad ahead of a key game against Notre Dame Friday. Campbell joined TCU in 2023 and has led the team to a 7-0 unbeaten start to the season.
“This is a journey of every season, talking and communicating. For young people it's hilarious. Off the court they don't stop talking and on the court it's hard to get them to talk and that's always a journey each season.”
Campbell emphasized the need to improve collectively to perform at a higher level against ranked opponents.
“To be great defensively you've got to communicate at a high level. We're going to have to be locked in and we're going to have to play better than we did today.”
Mark Campbell shows respect for Notre Dame's quality
Campbell was quick to recognize the quality of TCU's next opponent. Notre Dame has played in 27 NCAA tournaments with a 69-25 record, earning its status as one of the top women's basketball programs in the country.
"Obviously, Notre Dame is one of the best teams in the country, if not the best team in the country. The performance they had on the road at SC (USC Trojans) was an incredible performance.”
Sedona Prince leads the Horned Frogs with 20.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game, while Van Lith is adding 7.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
Both TCU and Notre Dame are undefeated heading into Friday's contest.
