Chicago Sky power forward Angel Reese has faced criticism since the 2025 WNBA season began in May. From her on-court performances to her growing rivalry with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, Reese has found herself at the center of a storm of public scrutiny.
The WNBA star has repeatedly addressed criticism through interviews, press conferences and social media. However, following Sky's 85-66 loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday, Reese responded again, this time with a motivational message on Instagram.
The post featured a 14-slide carousel with photos of Reese on the court, in the locker room and motivational quote graphics. It was, however, her caption of the post that spoke volumes.
"Every successful person you admire survived a season you didn't see," Reese wrote. "Idols turn into rivals. Everything becomes about survival."
Reese's post quickly drew support from several college basketball stars, including South Carolina Gamecocks guard Raven Johnson, Houston Cougars' Kateri Poole and TCU's Olivia Miles.
"❤️," Johnson wrote.
"Keep being you kid🙏🏼," Poole said.
"Love!" Miles wrote.
Some fellow WNBA stars, including Sky teammate Kamilla Cardoso and Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink, commented on the post.
"Keep going 5! ❤️," Cardoso said.
"❤️❤️❤️," Brink wrote.

Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky are going through a rough patch in the WNBA with a 2-6 record, including losses in their last two games. In Tuesday's game against the New York Liberty, Reese delivered 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
