UConn women's basketball has been privy to some of the greatest players to ever play the sport. Having boasted the likes of Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, and now Paige Bueckers, the line of succession continues to grow for the program's history books.
The Huskies played a game against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 20, where they dominated in an 85-41 victory. That win saw legendary UConn coach Geno Auriemma claim the all-time wins record in Division I basketball.
During that matchup, a photo of the broadcast feed showing the aforementioned players all together was posted on social media.
Fans talked about the historic success UConn had over the years thanks to these players, considering the multiple national championships and tournament runs they got to witness as the stars went on to have memorable careers in the WNBA.
Here is what some of them had to say about the group photo featuring Paige Bueckers and the former UConn stars.
"Maya, DT, Bird, and Paige in one shot, sheesh. That’s UConn royalty right there," one fan said.
"It's even crazier when you notice that you can still add Stewie (the best of them all) and Tina to this pic," a fan remarked.
"The past and the future that is an incredible shot," another wrote.
Others focused on Sarah Strong in the video as well as the pair of shoes Moore was wearing.
"I’ve watched UConn play for 30 years and Sarah is the best freshman I’ve ever seen play in Storrs, on both sides of the ball," one fan declared.
"Maya in her Jordan PEs..." a fan noted.
"The video of this is too funny with the Sarah Strong facial expressions and such," one fan said.
Paige Bueckers on getting to know UConn idols
UConn legends of the past were anticipated to attend the historic game of their former coach, Geno Auriemma. Prior to the game, Paige Bueckers reflected on getting to know her 'idols' as people.
“It started off, they were my idols,” said Bueckers, per CT Insider. “I was super nervous, super shy, super scared to talk to them, intimidated by them. But to get to know them as people, they're very welcoming. It's a really a sisterhood here at UConn.
"They're there when you need them, when you need words of advice, words of encouragement, when you need a pick me up. If you need anything, they're always there to communicate and be there with you every step of the way.”
Bueckers got to say hi to Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird as they walked on the court before the big game.
Paige Bueckers and No. 2 UConn are off to a 4-0 start this season, getting victories over Boston University, South Florida, North Carolina, and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Bueckers continues to be the heart of the Huskies' offense, leading the way with 20 points, five rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.7 steals per game on 60.4% shooting from the field and 42.1% from beyond the arc. Assisting her is Sarah Strong, having 16 points and eight rebounds per contest on 53.8% shooting overall in her first four games as a freshman.
Paige Bueckers and the Huskies are set to play Oregon State at the Baha Mar Convention Center on Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
