Devin Booker is a certified fan of the USC Trojans and JuJu Watkins. After rocking the USC-inspired Nike Book 1 shoes at the Phoenix Suns' season opener against the LA Clippers, the guard surprised the Trojans by gifting the sneakers to the entire Trojans roster.

JuJu Watkins and the USC Trojans are in Paris right now as they are set to play their season opener against Ole Miss on Monday at Adidas Arena. Freshman recruit Kayleigh Heckel is excited about the game, the first tip-off of the 2024 Aflac Oui-Play event.

“We feel great. We feel like we’re really ready for this,” Heckel said. “We’ve worked really hard, we have a lot of team chemistry, all of us are close … Everyone knows what each other does on the court, and we just play to each other’s strengths.”

JuJu Watkins calls USC her "family" and prepares for another historic run

JuJu Watkins led the USC Trojans on an Elite Eight run last season, their first in 30 years. Despite being just 19 at the time, the guard played a crucial role in bringing the team together and leading from the front.

During an interview with Boardroom, Watkins commented on her special bond with the team and its coach, Lindsay Gottlieb.

"I would say pretty much my friend group is my team," Watkins said (01:54). "It feels, you know, like family and the relationship between me and my coaches is just so important, especially (head coach) Lindsay (Gottlieb).
"She's one of the main reasons that I even went to USC just because she's just such a great coach and person. Having that feeling that I can go to her about anything and just trusting her. That's really everything I was looking for in a coach; that trust, that bond, just grateful for her."

After their historic run last season, JuJu Watkins and the Trojans are ready for their new season in a new conference. The roster has undergone major changes as two senior transfers, KiKi Iriafen from Stanford and Talia von Oelhoffen from Oregon State, joined the team along with the top-ranked freshman class.

After their matchup in Paris, the Trojans will return to the Galen Center for their game against Cal Poly Mustangs on Nov. 9.
