Lucy Olsen was among the top scorers in women's college basketball in 2023-24, finishing third in the nation behind only former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark and USC Trojans guard JuJu Watkins. While the Hawkeyes lost Clark to the WNBA after two consecutive national title appearances, they were able to land Olsen to replace some of her production.

Kyle Huesmann of On3 Sports shared the news, tweeting:

"BREAKING🚨 Villanova transfer point guard Lucy Olsen has committed to Iowa. Third in the country in scoring (23.3 ppg) last season and an AP Honorable Mention All-American. Rated as the 4th-best available player in the portal by ESPN."

"We are so back! Lol"

Another fan had a similar level of excitement.

One fan suggested that it was bad news for those who predicted Iowa's downfall:

"Bad news for the “Iowa will suck after CC” crowd"

One fan welcomed Olsen to Iowa:

"Welcome to Iowa Lucy! We are elated to have you here. Cheers to continued great things for you. GO HAWKS!"

Another fan wrote:

"It’s GREAT to be a Hawkeye! #HBAM"

One fan gave a breakdown of Olsen's game:

"I’ve watched highlights. Can score from all 3 levels. Excellent mid-range. Great back to the basket, fade away. Can use your left. Great use of the hesitation to get separation. You’re going to love the pace of Coach Bluder’s offense. Congrats!"
