Highly touted high school prospect Karter Knox announced Monday that he will play for the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville after de-commiting from Kentucky.

Karter made this commitment following the exit of Kentucky's former coach, John Calipari, who a day later, was named the head coach at Arkansas on April 10th.

It was Calipari who helped mold Karter's brother Kevin into an NBA player during his lone year in Kentucky. The prospect's decision was rooted in the belief that Calipari could help him become a professional basketball player like his brother.

"Throughout my whole recruiting process, Coach Cal always said he wants to make me a pro," Karter said (via ESPN). "I trust that he will do that for me at Arkansas."

Karter also admires assistant coach Kenny Payne and believes it is a win-win situation for him.

"I also have a great relationship with Coach Kenny Payne, so getting to play for two coaches I admire is a dream come true. I'm looking forward to getting there, getting to work and bringing a winning mentality to Fayetteville."

Given that most of Karter's decision was influenced by the opportunity to play under Calipari, who had previously coached his brother, let's explore the career path of the said brother, Kevin Knox II.

Kevin Knox II, a five-star high school recruit from Tampa Catholic School, excelled in his junior and senior years with the Crusaders. He averaged 30.1 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his junior year, and 28.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in his final year.

Despite offers from Duke, Florida State, Missouri and North Carolina, he chose to play for Kentucky in the 2017-18 season.

The Phoenix, Arizona native played for 37 games with the Wildcats and averaged 15.6 points per game, on 44.7% shooting from the field and 77.4% from the free-throw line. He also tallied 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 32.4 minutes per contest. Even though Kentucky fell short of the national championship that year, Kevin's efforts gave him the First Team All-SEC and SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2018.

After declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft, Kevin was picked ninth overall by the New York Knicks. He made a promising start with the Knicks, averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in the 2018-19 season. His numbers, however, dipped in the next three seasons, leading to a trade to the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021-22 season.

He later played for the Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz, eventually joining the NBA G-League.

Now, Karter Knox is following his brother's initial path under coach Calipari. Arkansas has also gained the commitment of former Kentucky player Zvonimir Ivisic.
