Ohio State Buckeyes center Seth McLaughlin is out for the season. The starting offensive lineman suffered a serious injury in Tuesday's practice.

Following the season-ending injury, coach Ryan Day said on Wednesday:

"Yeah, you know, Seth tore his Achilles on a non-contact injury. Crushed for Seth and our team, but once that wears off you have to move on. It’s a next-man-up mentality. Certainly, nobody cares. We will make adjustments."

The Ohio State Buckeyes face the Indiana Hoosiers in Week 13. They'll need to regroup and soldier on without their All-American center.

What happened to Seth McLaughlin?

Seth McLaughlin tore his Achilles in a training session on Tuesday. The star center is a key part of the Buckeyes offensive line and has started all ten games for the program this season.

McLaughlin has always been a standout prospect. He played in 24 games for the Alabama Crimson Tide before he took his talents to Ohio State. Subsequently, he became a pillar of Ryan Day's side and had a career year in 2024. McLaughlin will now embark on a rehabilitation journey as he prepares for the 2025 NFL draft or another year of collegiate football.

In the meantime, the Ohio State Buckeyes have decided to move Carson Hinzman to center for the rest of the season. McLaughlin's injury might prove costly as the Buckeyes aim to bring a national championship to Ohio State.

How has Ryan Day's Ohio State Buckeyes' performed in 2024?

The Ohio State Buckeyes are among the best-performing teams in the 2024 college football season. The program has recorded wins over every team it has faced except the Oregon Ducks.

The Buckeyes had blowout wins over the Akron Zips, Western Michigan Broncos, Michigan State Spartans, Iowa Hawkeyes, Purdue Boilermakers and Northwestern Wildcats. They rank second in the AP Poll and are in prime position to earn a nod in the expanded College Football Playoff.

However, it remains to be seen how Ryan Day handles the Buckeyes' injuries so late in the season. Every game until the end of the playoff will be regarded as a final.
