Georgia Tech vs Georgia: Preview
The Yellow Jackets are a 19.5-point underdog while the over/under is set at 53 points.
Georgia Tech is coming off a thrilling win over NC State that saw the lead change multiple times and did so with less than two minutes to go twice.
The Yellow Jackets will likely play both Haynes King and Aaron Philo at quarterback, as King is more of a running option right now. The team is led by Jamal Haynes, who has rushed for 717 yards and 9 touchdowns, and Eric Singleton Jr. has caught 48 passes for 668 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Georgia Tech is led by Kyle Efford, who has 3 sacks and also leads the team with 61 tackles.
Georgia, meanwhile, will play in the SEC Championship Game, but likely can't afford another loss if they are going to make the playoffs.
“I mean it’s a great honor to be able to play in the SEC Championship game. It is probably one of the greatest events in all sports because the games that you play in are great matchups,” Smart said, via FanSided.
“But at this point in time, we don’t even know who that it is, nor do I care. My concern 100 percent is with Georgia Tech because of what that game means to so many in this state, so many on our team, and what it means to the season, and the seniors playing at home. So that’s the focus.”
The Bulldogs are led by Carson Beck who's thrown for 3,132 yards, 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Nate Frazier has rushed for 537 yards and 7 touchdowns, while Arian Smith has 695 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.
Defensively, Dan Jackson has two interceptions, Jalon Walker and Chaz Chambliss each have 5.5 sacks, and CJ Allen leads the team with 55 tackles.
Georgia has started to play better, and a big reason why is because of the play of Beck. The quarterback is being smarter with the football as Georgia should cruise to a lopsided win over the Yellow Jackets to give them confidence going into the SEC Championship Game.
Prediction: Georgia 38, Georgia Tech 17
