Rising won't take the field against the UCF Knights on Friday night. The Utah signal-caller had been ruled out for the season after injuring his lower leg in a game against Arizona State on Oct. 11.

The Utes have named the San Mateo-born Luke Bottari as their starting quarterback against UCF. After defeats in his two appearances for the Utes, Bottari will look to end the season with a win.

Cam Rising injury update: What happened to Utah QB?

Rising injured his lower leg in the first quarter of Utah's 27-19 loss against Arizona State in Week 7. The Utes quarterback was hit by a Sun Devils defender and his right foot was trapped under a player.

Cam Rising continued to play but struggled during the contest, completing 16 of 37 passes with three interceptions and no touchdowns. After the game, the Utes announced that the player was out for the season due to multiple injuries.

The Utah QB previously suffered a cut on his right hand on Sept. 7 against Baylor and missed a few weeks before returning to action against Arizona State.

Rising finished the season with 555 yards on 34 passes with seven touchdowns and three interceptions across three appearances. His best performance came against Southern Utah Thunderbirds in the season opener, where he completed 10-of-15 passes over 254 yards with a pass percentage of 66.7 percent. Additionally, he had five touchdowns. Defensively, he rushed with four carries for 25 yards with an average of 6.3 yards per attempt.

The seventh-year senior could be eligible to return for the 2025 college football season if he is granted a second medical redshirt.
