Quarterback DJ Lagway and the Florida Gators are set to host the No. 9-ranked Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday. The Gators (5-5) are coming off an upset 27-16 win over LSU which knocked the Tigers out of the AP Top 25 rankings. The Rebels (8-2) are coming off an open week after picking up a big 28-10 win over the No. 8-ranked Georgia on November 9.

Florida has had an up-and-down season, and injuries have been partially to blame. The starter at the beginning of the season, Graham Mertz is out for the season with an injury. As a result, DJ Lagway has become the new starter. However, Lagway missed time earlier in the season with an injury too. Fortunately for the Gators, Lagway is expected to play against Ole Miss on Saturday.

DJ Lagway injury update

DJ Lagway has been dealing with a hamstring injury he suffered in the Gators' 34-20 loss against Georgia. He missed the next game, a 49-17 loss against No. 3-ranked Texas. Lagway was a game-time decision ahead of last Saturday's game against LSU and the decision was made for him to play. He did not appear to reaggravate the injury and is expected to play again against Ole Miss.

What happened to DJ Lagway?

Lagway suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the game against Georgia. He went down after a hit and left the field. He was not able to return to the game. Afterward, it was confirmed that Lagway would not be available for the Gators' next game against Texas.

Ahead of last week's game against LSU, Lagway was listed as a game-time decision. However, Lagway made a personal effort to show the coaching staff that he was ready to play. He reportedly made the decision himself, telling head coach Billy Napier that he was going to play.

When will DJ Lagway return?

Although there were concerns that Lagway would not be ready to play against LSU, he played and helped the Gators pull off the upset. During the game, there was no indication that Lagway was still suffering from his injury. He had a strong performance, throwing for 226 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions.

With a strong performance last week and no indication that he reaggravated his injury, Lagway is expected to play against Ole Miss. He is no longer listed on the injury report, and as a result, he should be a full participant on Saturday.
