Isaac Wilson has been a topic of discussion for the Utah Utes ahead of their Week 14 matchup against the UCF Knights. The quarterback has been dealing with a knee injury this week, and fans want to know whether he will play in Friday night's game at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orange County, Florida.
Is Isaac Wilson playing against UCF in Week 14?
As things stand, Isaac Wilson will not play against UCF on Friday night. The Utah quarterback is reportedly ruled out for the team's final regular season game due to a knee injury.
In Wilson's absence, Luke Bottari will start as the Utes' quarterback against the Knights.
Isaac Wilson injury update: What happened to Utah QB?
Wilson picked up his knee injury in the third quarter of Utah's Week 13 defeat against Iowa State on Saturday. He was tackled from behind by a Cyclones defender, who wrapped up the quarterback's lower leg, taking him to the ground.
The Iowa State defender rolled and twisted Wilson’s leg, and the Utah star was visibly in pain. The Utes signal-caller headed toward the medical tent before exiting the game.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham spoke to reporters after the matchup and offered an update on what caused Wilson's injury.
“The initial tackle was not what caused it,” Whittingham said. “I think it was the rollover. It was the finish of the tackle; however you want to term that, that’s what it was.”
Unfortunately for Utes fans, it appears that Wilson will not play in Utah's final game of the 2024 season.
