The Miami Hurricanes (8-0, 4-0 ACC conference) will take on the Duke Blue Devils (6-2, 2-2 ACC conference) in Week 9 of the 2024 college football season. After last season's 7-6 campaign, coach Mario Cristobal is leading the Hurricanes to a potential conference title and a playoff berth.
In Week 9, Miami secured a 36-14 victory over Florida State, which extended their winning streak to eight games. Apart from Pittsburgh, they are the only team in the ACC without a single loss this season.

Senior QB Cam Ward will take the field as the starting QB of the Hurricanes against the Blue Devils in Week 10. So far this season, he has started all the games for Mario Cristobal's team and has tallied a total of 2,746 passing yards and 24 TD passes.

Last week during their victory against the Seminoles, Ward put up 208 passing yards without any touchdowns. Thus, he will be looking to find his scoring form once again in Week 10. He is also considered to be a contender for the Heisman trophy this season alongside the likes of Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter and Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty.
Coming out of Columbia High School, Cam Ward only received a scholarship offer from Incarnate Word. He began his collegiate journey with them in 2020 and spent two seasons with the Cardinals. He then joined Washington State in 2022 and was named as the team's starting QB.
During his two-season stint with Washington State, Ward tallied a total of 6,968 passing yards and 4 TD passes. Last year, he helped the Cougars to a 5-7 overall campaign while recording 3,736 passing yards and 25 TD passes.
The QB then declared for the 2024 NFL draft but pulled out, deciding to play out his final year of eligibility. He transferred to Miami this offseason, wanting to improve his draft stock and utilize the advantages of the current NIL scenario in college sports.

While Cam Ward shoulders the responsibility as Miami's starting QB, Mario Cristobal also has sophomore Emory Williams and redshirt junior Reese Poffenbarger in its QB depth chart.
As a former four-star prospect, Emory Wiliams committed to play for the Hurricanes as a part of the 2023 recruiting class. He played in five games during his freshman season while starting two of them. Williams recorded 470 passing yards and three TD passes as a true freshman.
Meanwhile, Reese Poffenbarger initially played for the FCS team Albany. After two seasons, he decided to join Miami this season. Poffenbarger saw limited playing time during their game against Florida A&M Rattlers this season.
