Minnesota vs Wisconsin: Preview
The Golden Gophers are 2.5-point road underdogs while the over/under is 43 points.
Minnesota played well early on against Penn State, but Golden Gophers coach PJ Fleck decided to kick a field goal to go down by one point instead of going for a touchdown on fourth-and-goal. Minnesota did not get the ball back but Fleck said he doesn't regret his decision.
"No, I don't regret any decision because you're calling the decision based on the information you have at that time, and what you want to do," Fleck said on Monday, via SI. "You prepare all week for that particular situation. Now, did we execute it? No."
Minnesota is led by Max Brosmer who has thrown for 2,426 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. Darius Taylor has rushed for 730 yards and nine TDs, and Daniel Jackson has 802 receiving yards and three TDs.
Defensively, Minnesota is led by Koi Perch's five interceptions, Anthony Smith's five sacks and Cody Lindenberg's 90 tackles.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin has lost four straight games which has kept them from being bowl-eligible.
“There are going to be a lot of things on our plate,” Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell said on Monday, via AOL. “There have been a lot of things that have been ups and downs, guys that are bumped, bruises and nicks, but whether it’s Friday at 11 o’clock or they put (the game) Saturday at night, it comes down to a one-game season, it comes down to a battle for an Axe and anybody who can’t get up for that doesn’t belong at either one of these places.”
The Badgers are led by Braedyn Locke who has thrown for 1,806 yards, 12 TDs, and 10 interceptions, while Tawee Walker has rushed for 828 yards and 10 TDs.
Defensively, Preston Zachman has two interceptions, Christian Alliegro has three sacks and Hunter Wohler has 63 tackles.
Wisconsin needs one more win to make a bowl game, but it has struggled and now has a tough game at home against Minnesota. The Golden Gophers nearly beat Penn State due to their solid defense.
The Golden Gophers should be able to limit Wisconsin's offense and get a big road win.
Prediction: Minnesota 21, Wisconsin 17
