Last year, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs were just shy of three-peating as national champions. After being undefeated throughout the season, they lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. This led to them missing out on securing a playoff spot while Alabama advanced along with Texas, Washington and Michigan in the playoffs.

However, Kirby Smart has put in the work this offseason as the Bulldogs prepare for their redemption arc in 2024. To further bolster his coaching staff, he was successful in securing Travaris Robinson, Alabama's ex-cornerbacks coach, to the program.

During a recent interview with On3, Smart talked about Travaris Robinson's transition from Alabama to Georgia. Smart stated that Robinson's arrival has been 'full of energy' for the program and that he will be a key contributor to Georgia's success in the future.

"He (Travaris Robinson) is full of energy, enthusiasm. He can do a lot of different jobs. He's well-liked on the road to recruiting, he's well respected, he's a really good football coach. You know he's worked under Coach Muschamp, he's worked under Coach Saban, those are two guys I had as mentors," Smart said.

"I just saw it as a really good fit and a really good timing from a standpoint of him getting to come over here, continue to grow as a coach..... he's also invested in these kids. But his reputation probably is what led me to hiring him is that the people I trust said reallly good things about him so I thought that was important." (5:30)

Before joining Kirby Smart's coaching staff in Georgia, Travaris Robinson spent two seasons under Nick Saban in Alabama. Now, he has the opportunity to continue and hone his skills under Kirby Smart who already has built a reputation for himself as a contender in the SEC conference.

Kirby Smart opens up about absurd demand from recruits in the modern NIL era

The changes in name, image and likeness rules have brought drastic changes in the way recruiting takes place in college football. However, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs continue to be a dominant force when it comes to bringing talent to the program.

However, this does not mean that he hasn't seen his fair share of crazy demands from potential recruits. Smart shed light on some of the things that count as absurd demands from these recruits, especially when it comes to tickets for games.

"Whether its cars or tickets, you know, that's the one that gets me. It's like when the NCAA says you get four tickets that's what you get. And then when somebody comes in talking about, 'well I need 50-yard line seats', that's not within my control. That's not within our power. Nobody's gonna do that cause the boosters and the fans are paying for those are paying a whole different rate."

For Georgia, the upcoming season will be full of high expectations. Can they go on to bring in another natty home? Or will Smart have to continue working to find that sweet spot of success once again?
