Talented defensive tackle Myron Charles has been committed to the Florida State Seminoles since June. On Saturday after the Texas Longhorns' 31-6 win over the Michigan Wolverines, he flipped his commitment to Steve Sarkisian's team.

The four-star-rated Charles is the No. 10 defensive lineman and No. 118 overall-ranked prospect in the class of 2025, according to On3. He was heavily recruited by the Miami Hurricanes, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Georgia Bulldogs. He visited Austin on June 8 but opted to commit to coach Mike Norvell's team instead.

According to Horns247, Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker did not give up on Charles' recruitment despite the defensive lineman committing to the Seminoles. After Florida State's poor start to the season, he pushed to flip the prospect even more.

While the Longhorns continued their blistering start to the season with a win against the Wolverines at the Big House, the Seminoles lost to the Boston College Eagles in Week 2 to continue a winless start to the season.

Charles is not the first prospect that Texas has flipped this year. Defensive lineman Josiah Sharma from the Oregon Ducks has also opted for the Longhorns.

With Charles' commitment, Steve Sarkisian's team has 12 verbal commitments in the class of 2025.

Myron Charles reveals his strengths

Myron Charles registered 29 tackles, 9.5 for loss, two pass deflections and 1.5 sacks last season for Port Charlotte High School, leading his team to the regional final of Florida 3S playoffs before committing to the Florida State Seminoles.

During an interview with On3, Charles broke down his strengths that he hopes will translate well in college football and the aspects of his game he has worked on so far.

“I can play about anywhere that’s needed,” Charles said. “On the next level, they use their defensive lineman all over the line, so I don’t feel it’s a big adjustment for me, because that’s what I do with run-stopping and getting after the quarterback. It fits right into my playing style and fits right into the system as I get older.

"I’ve also worked really hard on getting bigger and faster. My hands are more violent and faster. The way I’m finishing on plays is faster and better because of my hands.”

In Charles, the Texas Longhorns have managed to steal away a potential star from the Seminoles that will greatly bolster their defensive line.
