The historic Texas Longhorns vs Texas A&M Aggies rivalry will return this Sunday and the buildup has been entertaining. The beef between both teams stems from them sharing the same state, and needless to say, the fans don't like each other.
With the Sunday game nearing, one fan has taken it upon himself to prevent the meeting from happening. A fan who identifies as "They are all hat … no cattle," started a petition to remove the Texas Longhorns from the SEC.
The petition went into great detail, highlighting reasons they believe the Longhorns should be removed from the Southeastern Conference.
“As a passionate advocate for the integrity of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), I, like many of us, find the inclusion of the Texas Longhorns deeply concerning. For many, they have become a giant blight on what the SEC symbolizes, leading to an intention of a petition to exclude them altogether,” the fan wrote on the Sign Petition page.
The petitioner accused the Texas Longhorns of:
"Contributing heavily to the implosion of previous conferences. Interfering with other SEC teams championship runs through slimy back-door methods. Delaying games and endangering players by throwing baby bottles onto the field during game action. Having a snowflake fanbase that cannot take a joke and/or a simple “horns down” gesture without crying."
Message Board Geniuses report it to have been started by Aggies fans, and posted on X:
"#TexasAM fans have started a petition to have #Texas removed from the #SEC."
The petition listed several more grievances against the Longhorns. So far it has received 72 signatures. Though the Sunday game is inevitable, it’s still great to see that the rivalry between both teams is alive and well.
Texas Longhorns vs Texas A&M winner will face Georgia for SEC Championship
The Longhorns and Aggies will be meeting this Sunday for their highly anticipated matchup in "The Lone Star Showdown." The Georgia Bulldogs have been confirmed to have a spot in the SEC Championship and reports indicate that the winner of The Lone Star Showdown will face the Bulldogs on December 7.
This is great for Texas A&M, who lost 43-41 to the Auburn Tigers and seemed to be out of the picture. If they can beat the Longhorns and follow that up with a victory over Georgia, they get an automatic College Football Playoff berth.
On the other hand, the Texas Longhorns are coming off a win against the Kentucky Wildcats. They seem to be the stronger opponents heading into this matchup and will be looking to make a statement on Sunday.
