Arch Manning spring game 2024 for Texas Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns had their spring game over the weekend and quarterback Arch Manning had a great performance.

Manning threw a 75-yard touchdown on his first pass attempt while starting 10-for-10. The redshirt freshman QB went 11-for-13 for 189 yards with two touchdowns in the first half.

The Longhorns did not give final statistics, but according to ESPN Stats & Information, Manning went 19-for-26 for 355 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He also threw another 75-yard touchdown.

After the game, head coach Steve Sarkisian heaped praise on Manning for his performance.

"I wanted Arch to be able to just go play football. He hadn't really played in a year," Sarkisian said, via ESPN. "When he keeps his eyes up and steps up in the pocket, he can deliver those balls down the field the way we like to play. It was good to see, and it's good to see some of the guys around him play with him the way that they did.
"We're very fortunate at the quarterback position to have a third-year starter to have the backup that we have."

It was an incredible performance from Manning, who dazzled Longhorns fans, especially with the pressure on him.

Even though Manning had an incredible performance, his Team White lost to Team Orange at Texas’ annual Orange-White Spring Game.

Despite all the success in the spring game, Arch Manning will remain the backup for Texas this season, as Quinn Ewers returned for one more year.

Steve Sarkisian praises Arch Manning's spring game performance

Arch Manning had an incredible spring game performance, and head coach Steve Sarkisian couldn't hold back praise for the star QB.

Although the coach knows Manning won't be their starter this season, he is confident about developing him to be a bonafide star.

"The majority of guys like Arch have always been the best their whole life," Sarkisian said. "Then they get to college and it's like, 'Wait, I'm not the starter?' No, but we're going to develop you in a way that when you do become the starter, you're going to play great.
"You're not going to have to go through some of these growing pains that some of these other guys go through with their freshman and sophomore year. We're going to keep training you in a way that when your number does get called, you're going to play really good football."

Last season, Manning went just 2-for-5 for 30 yards before redshirting his freshman season.
