Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning is one of the emerging talents in College Football. Fans and coaches have had a glimpse of what he can do and are hoping to see more of this next season.
After fellow Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers returned from his injury, Manning has returned to sporadic play. But he is still able to impress despite the limited playtime.
This week, the Longhorns face the Arkansas Razorbacks, and their coach was impressed by what he saw from Manning in last week's game against the Florida Gators, comparing his play to an NFL great.
He said:
“With Manning, I saw him make a play running to his left that they would have showed on ‘SportsCenter’ if (Patrick) Mahomes did it. The touch on that pass and the accuracy running to his left was incredible."
Manning went three from six and threw for 19 yards against the Gators during a part of the game where the Longhorns had victory sealed.
However, even with no pressure on Manning, he was still able to pull off an impressive throw that had been compared to something that Patrick Mahomes would do.
If he can do this with nothing on the line, fans can only imagine what Arch Manning is able to do when a "big game" is on the line.
Sam Pittman on Arch Manning's fellow QB, Quinn Ewers
As well as taking about Arch Manning, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman spoke about Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns quarterback his Razorbacks will likely face this weekend.
Pittman described Ewers as having:
“The confidence of Jaxson Dart, you know, that type of confidence. I think he has great belief in his O-line. You can just feel it. You can feel it on the field. And his wideouts are incredible. Running backs used as wideouts on bubble screens."
“I think he has a lot of talent around him, but I think he has a lot, a lot of confidence. Probably has since he was a young man. And he’s very accurate and got an incredibly strong arm.”
Ewers has successfully led this Longhorns offense for several years, and this is something that has only improved while he was in the starter role.
While he took a while to return to his usual form after his injury earlier in the season, the 333 yards and five touchdowns thrown during the game against the Gators last week show that Ewers is back to his regular form.
It would not be odd to see a similar performance from Ewers this weekend against Arkansas.
