The Georgia Bulldogs successfully qualified to compete with the Texas Longhorns for the SEC championship this year. If they win this title game, the Dawgs will receive an automatic bid in this year's 12-team College Football Playoff.
Amid the preparations by the Bulldogs for the upcoming SEC title game, defensive back Julian Humphrey has made a massive decision about his collegiate future. The third-year sophomore had started the first 10 games for the Bulldogs this season and recorded 10 total tackles and four pass breakups.
According to On3, Humphrey has decided to depart from the team and enter the NCAA transfer portal. He plans on playing the remaining two years of his collegiate eligibility with another team. Humphrey had entered the portal previously after his redshirt freshman season but decided to remain with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts and opinions about Julian Humphrey's plans to enter the transfer portal.
One fan said it was a good decision by the defensive back:
"Smart decision young man. Bad culture."
Another fan predicted that the Syracuse Orange have the best chance of recruiting the Georgia DB:
"Anyone who doesn't think Syracuse is in the driver seat on this, is simply delusional."
This fan stated that Humphrey was entering the portal after analyzing his time with the Bulldogs:
"Julian Humphrey's decision comes after reflecting on his time in Georgia."
Another wished Humphrey the best of luck on his future journey:
"Had this premonition last night due to this perceived demotion and the fact that he almost left in the portal before the season started. UGA will be fine and I wish him well on his journey!"
This fan stated that it was pretty bold of Humphrey to do this before the SEC title game:
"Before the SEC Championship is crazy."
Another commented that he saw this situation coming:
"Saw this coming as soon as he didn't get back in during Tennessee game."
Georgia coach Kirby Smart shares thoughts on Julian Humphrey's transfer decision
Julian Humphrey announced his decision to depart from the Georgia Bulldogs through a post on social media. In an X post, he expressed his gratitude to the team for the experience and how he will be playing somewhere else during his two years of eligibility.
Coach Kirby Smart commented on the situation and said he is yet to talk to Humphrey about his decision.
"I'm not dealing with it," Smart said, as per ESPN. "I'm worried about my team. I've learned in this thing that you worry about the players that are with you, not the ones that aren't... We've got guys all over the place that aren't here now that wish they could come back. It's a decision each kid has to make."
The Bulldogs will take on the Longhorns in the SEC championship game on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be hosted at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. On the other hand, the transfer portal opens on Dec. 9.
