Shedeur Sanders feels Thanksgiving get-togethers have been very different in his family since his parents, Deion and Pilar Sanders' divorce in 2015. In an episode of his "2Legendary" podcast on Tuesday, Shedeur opened up about how the holiday was celebrated before and after his parents' split.
When his guest, former NFL defensive end Darius Sanders, asked Shedeur how he celebrated Thanksgiving with his family, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback hilariously responded:
"BD or AD? Before divorce or after divorce?" [Timestamp: 9:44]
Shedeur and Darius enjoyed a hearty laugh before the former continued.
"So, before [divorce] we was all one big happy family." Shedeur said. "Everything was fun. We had turkeys, we had everything.
"Now, after divorce, I gotta make sure I don't eat too much at dad's house, then don't eat too much at mom's house. I gotta make sure I balance my stomach."
Pilar is Sanders' second ex-wife. They married in 1999 and have three children, Shilo, Shedeur and a daughter, Shelomi, who is the youngest.
While Shilo and Shedeur play college football for Colorado, Shelomi plays college basketball at Alabama A&M.
Shedeur Sanders is in contention to win the Heisman Trophy this season
Shedeur Sanders has enjoyed a fantastic season at No.23 Colorado (8-3, 6-2 Big 12) and is in contention for the Heisman Trophy. The Buffs quarterback has completed 308 of 413 passes for 3,488 yards and thrown 30 touchdowns, with seven interceptions. He also has four rushing touchdowns on 81 carries across 11 games.
Shedeur's Colorado teammate Travis Hunter is considered the frontrunner to win this year's Heisman. However, the race for the award could go down to the wire, depending on how the two fare in Colorado's final regular-season game against Oklahoma State on Friday.
