Arch Manning is set to lead the Texas offense against Ohio State in the 2025 season opener. The quarterback is expected to get the QB1 role, following Quinn Ewers' move to the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
On Friday, college football insider Jordan Reid shared a few points on where Manning can improve in the 2025 season.
"Manning has only 95 career passing attempts, so his sample size is small and more development is necessary. He had a habit of sticking to his primary read too long in his starts, leading to poor decision-making," Reid wrote in his column for ESPN.

"He will need to improve his timing in getting through progressions and knowing when to move off his first read. He could also use his mobility much more on non-designed QB runs to help string together positive plays. He'll be tested on these things early, as the Longhorns start the season at defending national champion Ohio State."
Manning served as the backup to Ewers in the 2024 season. He appeared in 10 games, starting two and leading Texas to convincing wins in both.
Manning completed 61 of 90 passes for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He also impressed with his rushing game, posting 108 yards and four rushing TDs.
Manning redshirted his freshman year in 2023, but appeared in one game for Texas, completing two of five passes for 30 yards.
Arch Manning might reportedly skip 2026 NFL draft to play two more years at college level

According to reports, Arch Manning is in no rush to play in the NFL. There are suggestions that the Texas quarterback might skip the 2026 NFL draft to play another season at the collegiate level.
Sources close to Manning have hinted that the QB could declare for the 2027 NFL draft. The young prospect wants to get as much experience as he can before heading into the pro league.
The Longhorns will face defending national champion Ohio State on Aug. 30 in their opening game of the 2025 season. The contest will prove to be a stern test for Manning heading into his first year as a starter.
Some have tipped Manning as an early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy next season.
