The 2024 Heisman Award is a tight-knit contest between Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter and Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty. Hunter joined the Buffs last season and has gone on to have two successful campaigns on an individual level. After winning the Paul Hornung Award last season, he helped Coach Prime's team record a 9-3 campaign in the Big 12 this year and qualify for the bowl games. However, Coach Prime's ex-wife Pilar Sanders believes that there should be another individual in this race for the Heisman: her son, Buffs quarterback Shedeur Sanders. View this post on Instagram Instagram PostOn Sunday, Colorado posted a short movie on social media featuring some of Shedeur's best plays with the team while also talking about his growth over the years after coming to the Buffs from Jackson State. Pilar Sanders commented on the video stating that it was finally time her son received the recognition he deserved."It's about time!" On the bright side, Shedeur did win this year's Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award which is given to the nation's top upperclassman quarterback. He is now preparing to suit up for the Colorado Buffaloes during their bowl game before training for the upcoming NFL draft.Travis Hunter also makes case for Shedeur Sanders as Heisman candidateColorado two-way star Travis Hunter also believes that Shedeur Sanders should be a top contender for the Heisman. And he has been vocal about this on various occasions publicly. On his podcast, Travis Hunter questioned how Shedeur Sanders, who is projected to be one of, if not the top QB pick in the 2024 NFL draft, is not a contender for the coveted award. Shedeur's mother and Coach Prime's ex-wife Pilar Sanders shared this on her Instagram story backing up Hunter's efforts to kickstart the QB's Heisman campaign."I was about to say that too. Like how can you be the top quarterback pick in the NFL draft, and you're not even considered being in the Heisman race? How does that even work?" Hunter asked."How does that even make sense? That makes no sense. Why I'm talking about myself? That absolutely makes no sense. You could be the first pick off the board and not being a Heisman and he also a quarterback which the Heisman normally goes to." It will be interesting to see if they both potentially end up on the same team in the NFL and continue their offensive chemistry professionally.
