Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been impressive this season, leading the Buffaloes to an unprecedented 8-2 record while clinching bowl eligibility for the first time in eight years. The Buffs have a chance to solidify their chances of appearing in the Big 12 Championship Game when Colorado faces the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 13 of college football action.
Before the game against Kansas, their mother and Coach Prime's ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, supported them via an Instagram post.
"Let’s Get It! Go @shedeursanders. Go @shilosanders. Go @cubuffsfootball #skobuffs #makeitepic #proudmom #footballmom," Pilar captioned the post on Saturday.
Shedeur Sanders causes controversy ahead of Kansas game
Ahead of the game against the Kansas Jayhawks, Shedeur Sanders caused controversy during his weekly news conference when he asserted his status among quarterbacks in the draft window.
"I feel like I was the best quarterback in last draft too," Sanders said on Saturday. "Ever since I’ve been draft eligible, I think I’m the best quarterback. You either see that or you don’t."
In his weekly news conference, ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. projected the maverick Colorado quarterback as the first quarterback picked and the No. 7 overall prospect in next year's draft.
Shedeur Sanders' charismatic father, Deion Sanders, asserted on this week's episode of FS1's "Speak" that he would intervene in his son's draft future should the wrong team pick him in the 2025 NFL draft.
"Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly. I’m going to do it privately," Sanders said. "I’m not going to give you regions. I’ll give you understanding. Somebody that can handle the quarterback that he is. Somebody that can handle what he’s capable of. Someone that has had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization that understands what they’re doing."
Coach Prime further asserted which qualities he was looking for in Shedeur Sander's next team.
"Not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves if you don’t have the support in the infrastructure of the team," Sanders said. "Forget the [offensive] line. He’s played with lines that hadn’t been great, but he’s been able to do his thing. But just the infrastructure of the team and the direction of where we’re going."
Shedeur Sanders has already led his team to the postseason with his stirring performances this season and is arguably the most impressive quarterback in college football. Whether or not teams will pick him first in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft will keep fans on tenterhooks for months.
