The latest rendition of the USA Today Coaches Poll was released on Sunday following Week 2 of the 2024 college football season. The top six teams remained the same; however, there was plenty of movement beyond that as only two other programs received the same ranking as they did a week ago.
Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes continue to sit atop Coaches Poll
The Georgia Bulldogs (2-0) entered the season as the top-ranked program in the nation in both the AP and Coaches polls. While they failed to reach the College Football Playoff last season, they won the national championship in both 2021 and 2022. The Bulldogs are the betting favorites to win their third title in four seasons as the postseason field expands from four to 12 teams for the first time this season. They have gotten off to a strong start with two blowouts.

The Ohio State Buckeyes (2-0) were ranked second in the AP and Coaches polls, while also having the second-best odds to win the national championship. They have not won a title since the inaugural season of the CFP in 2014. The Buckeyes have also started their season with two consecutive blowouts.
What happened in the rest of the top 10?
The No. 3-ranked Texas Longhorns (2-0) beat the Michigan Wolverines in the biggest matchup of the weekend to retain their ranking. Meanwhile, the No. 4-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 5-ranked Ole Miss Rebels both notched their second blowouts in as many games to hold steady in the top five. Despite barely surviving the Boise State Broncos, the No. 6-ranked Oregon Ducks did not slip.
The Penn State Nittany Lions moved up one spot and are now ranked seventh in the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, the Missouri Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers moved up two and three spots, respectively, and are ranked eighth and ninth, giving the SEC six of the top nine teams. The Utah Utes moved up one spot, rounding out the top 10.
