Miami Central linebacker Karon Maycock committed to Mike Norvell's Florida State on Feb. 20. However, the four-star prospect of the 2026 class has now announced that he will make a final decision about his commitment on July 7.
Fans on social media had wild reactions when Maycock announced that he would decide on his future even after being committed to FSU.

"College football recruiting sucks," one tweeted.
"So how does this work. Do you wear a FSU hat with the other two on the table?" another added.
“'Commit' will announce lol. Whatever," a third commented.
Others also expressed their confusion at the college football recruitment process.
"What does the word commit even mean anymore," one wrote.
"Are you a Florida state commit or not like wtf is this," a user added.
"How isn’t FSU the final decision if he’s committed," a fan tweeted.
Maycock has visited the Florida Gators and the Syracuse Orange. He will visit the Alabama Crimson Tide on June 13.
Maycock has a scheduled visit with the Florida State Seminoles on June 20, which will be his last visit to a team before he makes a "final" decision.
Maycock, who is from Miami, Florida, is the No. 461 overall player and No. 33 linebacker in the 247Sports composite rankings.
Mike Norvell's Florida State suffered a setback after safety Jaylen Scott committed to Auburn

Earlier this week, Mike Norvell's Florida State was dealt a blow when a Class of 2027 safety, Jaylen Scott, flipped his commitment from FSU to Auburn.
Scott, a four-star prospect, had pledged his commitment to Florida State in January. However, as things stand, the Williamson High School star is expected to play for Hugh Freeze's Tigers in two years' time.
FSU was reportedly the No.1 team in recruiting last week, but after Scott flipped his commitment to Auburn, the Seminoles dropped to No.2.
It remains to be seen if Florida State can seal a move for Maycock next month.
