The No. 23 Colorado Buffaloes finished the 2024 regular season with a 9-3 record. They were tied for first in the Big 12 with Arizona State, Iowa State and BYU but did not make the conference title game due to tiebreakers.
In a recent podcast episode on his channel, 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback invited brother Deion Sanders Jr. to discuss the season journey. During their conversation, Bucky highlighted a key aspect of the Buffaloes’ success.
"One thing is, Colorado is such an amazing place because the fan base is like so many different cultures combined in one. You know, you see black, white, Hispanic, Asian, everything just at the same place, happy, enjoying each other and enjoying the game. So, it's a real cool, unique fan base."

Coach Deion Sanders led the Buffs to nine wins this season, a feat Colorado last achieved last in 2016. "Coach Prime" came to Colorado in 2023 after the Buffaloes ended the 2022 regular season with a record of 1-11. Since then, the fanbase exploded as the program began to turn around. Here's what Sanders said about the atmosphere at Folsom Field in the podcast.
"Having the fans be there knowing what we changed the culture knowing uh it was a bad mindset loser mindset uh two years ago and shortly we was able to come in and change everything and that's really tough"
With Sanders leaving the Buffs next season, Colorado has already found his replacement
5-star QB Jordan Lewis has committed to the Buffaloes. He is ranked 2nd in the ESPN 300 list and amassed 10,423 yards and 140 touchdowns in his high school career. Lewis is expected to lead the Buffs once Sanders departs for the NFL.
London Merritt, the 4-star receiver who recently committed to the Buffaloes after leaving Ohio State, also had something positive to say about the culture Deion Sanders has built.
I feel like family at Colorado & they’re building something there that I want to be apart of. We are going to shock the world!”
