Deion Sanders' fairytale run with the Colorado Buffaloes came crashing in Week 13. After securing a four-game winning streak, their hopes of competing for the Big 12 title took a massive dent following their 37-21 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks.

The main goal of Deion Sanders and the Buffs after last season's 4-8 campaign was to qualify for the Bowl games. However, this year's excellent performance made fans believe that the team is ready to compete for a conference title and a spot in the new 12-team playoffs.

Despite this setback, Colorado still has a slim chance of winning the Big 12 championship. The conference released its tie-breaker scenarios that will decide which two teams will compete for the title game. Colorado beat writer Brian Howell shared on X/Twitter how Sanders' team can make a strong case for themselves.

"Big 12 releases its tie-breaker scenarios going into the final week," Howell wrote. "Nine teams still alive for the title game spots. For Colorado, it's basically: 1) Beat OSU and get 2 losses from ASU, BYU, ISU or 2)Beat OSU and get wins from Houston and Texas Tech"

Colorado's hopes for a Big 12 championship game lie in how their final regular season game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys plays out next week.

If they can secure a victory at Folsom Field, the rest will be dependent on their luck. Nevertheless, Sanders has proved his worth with the way his team has performed in their Big 12 reunion campaign.

Deion Sanders makes his thoughts known after loss to Kansas

In the post-game press conference, "Coach Prime" said that one of the factors in their loss against the Jayhawks was because they took them lightly. Kansas entered the game with a 4-6 record.

Sanders noted that initially, it felt like they had the advantage on the field. However, as the game progressed, victory slowly slipped away from their hands because of their carelessness.

"I just don't think about football. I think about life," Sanders said. "So the message to these young men is if the God were to grant you every darn thing that we needed in our lives of the ability, the thought process, connections and visuals, and you don't do nothing with it, that's on you and that's what we are. We controlled our own destiny and we fumbled it."

The Colorado Buffaloes currently have an 8-3 overall record with a 6-2 mark in conference play. They sit in fourth place in the conference behind BYU, Iowa State and Arizona State. It will be interesting to see if they can compete in the conference title game and secure a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff this season.
