The Chargers are becoming the NFL's Wolverines

Jim Harbaugh left college football on a high note, winning the elusive national championship he had been looking for since the early 2000s with Stanford. Now in his second stint in the NFL, the new Los Angeles Chargers head coach is deep at work selecting the crop of players that will make up the future of the franchise.

On the second day of the 2024 NFL draft, Harbaugh went with one of his former Michigan Wolverines players, selecting Junior Colson to be a new LB for the Chargers. Fans joked online that he couldn't avoid drafting at least one of the players that helped him get a national championship in Ann Arbor:

Blake Corum is going to Los Angeles, just not to the Chargers: Wolverines running back won't be reunited with Jim Harbaugh

Given the connection between Jim Harbaugh and Blake Corum, and their joint recent success winning the national title, pretty much everyone believed the running back would be joining his former coach at the Chargers.

Nonetheless, it won't happen, as the Los Angeles Rams made the surprising choice to pick Corum with the No. 83 pick of the draft in the third round. The choice was a surprising one, as the Rams have Kyren Williams on their roster. Williams is coming off a season with 1,144 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns.

Nonetheless, the Rams seem to think that a player as multifaceted as Corum was too good to pass over. He had 2,700 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns combined over the last two seasons. Corum was a two-time All-American, two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection and a Third Team All-Big Ten selection.
