On Monday, Iowa hired Scott Pioli, who worked with Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots, as a consultant to help with implementing revenue sharing. The Hawkeyes made the hire only days after the landmark $2.75 billion House settlement.

Pioli will reportedly work on all of the Hawkeyes' programs, but his expertise is football.

"Iowa hired former Chiefs GM/Patriots executive Scott Pioli as preparation for revenue sharing and will continue to work with all of Iowa's programs. Pioli has been at Iowa's football practices previously and is close with football coach Kirk Ferentz," The Athletic's Scott Dochterman tweeted.

As per the House vs. NCAA settlement, current and former college athletes, over the past 10 years, will receive shares of $2.75 billion in damages. The verdict implies that schools will have to directly pay the athletes for the use of their name, image and likeness. It is subject to an annual cap based on a percentage of a defined set of Power Five athletics department revenues.

These payments could begin from July 1 onwards. Pioli, who has years of experience at various levels of football management, will have an important role with the program.

Apart from Pioli, Iowa also hired Marcus Wilson as senior associate athletic director for cap management and administration. Scott Brickman was hired as general manager for NIL strategy.
