DJ Uiagalelei left the game against SMU (4-1) with an injury on Saturday. The Florida State (1-4) quarterback suffered a hand injury in the fourth quarter of the blowout loss to the Mustangs, adding further misery to the Seminoles' disappointing season so far.
There have been a lot of concerns among Florida State fans about Uiagalelei’s performance this season as the team continues to disappoint on the gridiron. The Seminoles now face the prospect of playing without their quarterback as a result of his injury on Saturday.
DJ Uiagalelei's injury update

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Uiagalelei's situation, noting that he is anticipated to be out of action for a few weeks due to a broken finger on his throwing hand. Thamel shared the news in a post on X/Twitter:
What happened to DJ Uiagalelei?
DJ Uiagalelei suffered the broken finger late in the fourth quarter of the game against SMU on Saturday. The quarterback, who had thrown two touchdowns in the game, injured himself while trying to throw for a first down as the Seminoles were trailing the Mustangs.
SMU, however, intercepted Uiagalelei’s pass and returned it for a pick-six, further extending their lead to 26 points. The play added a frustrating conclusion to an already difficult game for the Seminoles, compounded by the loss of their starting quarterback.
When will DJ Uiagalelei return?
There's no timetable yet for Uiagalelei’s return to action. Speculations around his injury suggest he will be sidelined for a while. Florida State coach Mike Norvell noted in his media availability on Monday that he is still being evaluated to have a clearer picture of the injury (via On3.com):
“DJ is something we’re going to evaluate throughout the course of the week and see where it goes from there,” Norvell said. “In all reality, I said it after the game, after the interception.
“I decided I was gonna make the change. Obviously, DJ did have the injury there but we just wanted to see that opportunity for Brock to go in and have a chance to execute," he added.
Backup quarterback Brock Glenn is expected to start for Florida State against rivals Clemson in Week 6. Glenn also started the Orange Bowl game against Georgia last season.
