Colorado transfer Alton McCaskill clears the air on alleged message to HC Deion Sanders

Alton McCaskill's father took shots at Deion Sanders, in a now-deleted post.

McCaskill has entered the transfer portal. After the news broke of him entering the transfer portal, his dad took to social media to blast Deion Sanders.

"If my sons not RB1 We Gotta Go," McCaskill's father, Alton III, wrote in a now-deleted post, according to TheSpun.
"He was ready last year! He's a 100% this year! Unfortunately have to find another home where there's no favoritism and he is valued, appreciate and has no doubts about RB1. He is the best RB in Colorado. ... But He Not settling!"

Following his father's post, McCaskill took to social media to respond and claimed that he has no relation with his dad and that his dad's comments do not reflect his.

"Statement is not true!!! I don’t not have relations with this man. Please check my page for official statement," McCaskill wrote.

McCaskill began his collegiate career at Houston in 2021 and had 189 carries for 961 yards and 16 touchdowns. After not playing in 2022 due to a torn ACL, McCaskill had 14 carries for 59 yards and zero touchdowns last season for Colorado.

McCaskill enters the portal with two years of eligibility left. He's also the latest player to enter the transfer portal, as Colorado has lost over 10 players, including five-star Cormani McClain.

Deion Sanders shuts down concerns over players leaving Colorado

The Buffaloes have been losing some key players in the transfer portal window, but coach Deion Sanders isn't concerned about it.

Instead, Sanders said that he isn't concerned about players leaving his program.

"We're good. I trust the recruiting team. I trust our coaches, and please have some faith in me," Sanders said, via ESPN. "We good. We all right. We all right...
"I think we got some [starting-caliber players] coming in from visits pretty soon, maybe even this weekend, but we can attract those type of players," Sanders said. "I don't think we're losing those type of players, and if we do, we're good. We're good. We're making a big deal out of nothing."

Colorado opens its 2024 season at home on Aug. 29 against North Dakota State. The Buffaloes have notable games against Nebraska, Baylor, Arizona, Kansas State, Kansas and Oklahoma State.
