The Florida Gators are 4-3 and coming off a statement 48-20 win at home against Kentucky. Entering Week 9, the Gators now have their second and final open week of the season.

After the statement upset win, Florida will use its open week to heal up any injuries and prepare for the final stretch of the season as the Gators look to be bowl-eligible.

Florida doesn't play today as the Gators have an open week in Week 9.

The Gators will return to action on the road against the No. 2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. This is Florida's second open week of the 2024 college football season.

Can Florida make it to the College Football Playoff this season?

The Florida Gators are highly unlikely to make it to the College Football Playoff.

Florida already has three losses, and there will be several two-loss teams that won't make the playoffs.

However, the Gators do have notable games against Georgia, Texas, LSU and Ole Miss, so if Florida can pull off upsets, it would be hard to deny Florida a playoff spot with three losses.

But the Gators are looking to get two more wins to be bowl-eligible. Coach Billy Napier is also focused on keeping his job, as getting to six wins with this schedule would be impressive.

Saturday Down South analyst Neil Blackmon believes there is a path for Napier to remain the coach.

“For Billy Napier, Florida’s beleaguered head coach, the win kept the lions at bay for another week,” Blackmon wrote. “Napier’s buyout was assembled by Florida’s boosters in September, per multiple media reports.

“After Saturday night’s blowout win, there’s enough hope swirling around the Florida program to provide a path forward under Napier, albeit a narrow one.”

Ultimately, Florida is focused on trying to get two more wins in its remaining five games.
