Travis Hunter is one of the strongest players this season in college football. The Colorado Buffaloes star has been able to establish himself as both a useful target for quarterback Shedeur Sanders and a good part of the Buffaloes defense.

This has led to a question about whether Hunter could play two positions in the NFL. One person who thinks that he could is his coach, Deion Sanders.

In a recent interview, Sanders said this of Hunter's ability to play two positions in the professional leagues:

"Don't tell me what can't be done. I did it at the Pro Level. So why can't he? It's already been done, not like that. I was good, but he is great. "

Deion Sanders knows exactly what it is like to play two positions in the NFL. While he was primarily known as a defensive player, Sanders sporadically played as a wide receiver when needed.

However, during the 1996 season, Sanders was used a lot more of the offense. He was officially a 'dual position' player for the Dallas Cowboys that season, and was able to have some success on both sides. He recorded 33 tackles alongside 475 receiving yards, scoring one touchdown.

This was all done alongside his successful career in baseball, essentially making him a three position player in two separate sports.

In comparison, this season, Travis Hunter has recorded 757 receiving yards, with eight touchdowns, alongside 20 tackles.

While Sanders' strength was on defense, Hunter appears to be strong on both sides of the ball. If he can not be a dual position player in the NFL, Hunter may stay in the wide receiver position, as the team's needs are likely to be more on offense than defense.

Travis Hunter has a plan for his jersey number

Travis Hunter himself has been thinking about the 2025 NFL draft and its potential consequences.

Hunter is likely to be a top five pick, and one team that could bring him on their roster is the New England Patriots.

This could lead to a problem for Hunter, who wears the No. 12 jersey. This will be impossible at the Patriots, as that number has been retired by the team, having been worn by Tom Brady.

Luckily, Hunter has a solution to this hypothetical problem, as he said:

"If I don’t get No. 12, bro, I’m going No. 40. What if I go to the Patriots, bro? I’m not finna wear Tom Brady’s number. … I’m telling you I’ma rock No. 40 though, like, nobody want to give me No. 12 ,they want me to pay for it, bro. Say goodbye.”

Whichever team that is lucky enough to get Travis Hunter onto their roster, they will be able to benefit from his strengths, on both sides of the ball.
