Murphy has given the Blue Devils notable quarterback play after Duke's offense lost highly-touted signal caller Riley Leonard to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
If Duke builds a significant lead, backup quarterback Henry Belin IV could see action versus UConn. Belin completed a seven-yard pass in Duke's overtime win against Northwestern last week. The Blue Devil backup is a three-star recruit from Bronx, New York.
Maalik Murphy's performance in the first two games of the 2024-25 season
During his brief time at Duke, Maalik Murphy has completed 50 of 79 pass attempts for 533 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions.
Murphy began the season with a solid showing versus Elon, completing 26 of 40 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He followed that with a 24-of-39 showing versus Northwestern, throwing for 243 yards and three touchdowns with an interception.
