Former Alabama wideout Agiye Hall has reportedly pled no contest to first-degree felony charges of trafficking in 300 plants or 25 pounds of cannabis in Florida for an incident that took place last year. The college football player transferred to UCF this offseason, but his offense has disrupted plans of playing for the Knights in the 2024 season.
As per reports, Hall is set to receive 18 months of supervised probation. Court documents revealed that the court withheld adjudication of the athlete's case, which otherwise would have led to a three-year minimum sentence in prison and 30 years as the maximum penalty.
Hall was caught with cannabis at Orlando airport in July 2023 when he was returning to Florida from San Francisco. He was then arrested on Dec. 4, after officers found that his luggage carried 40.3 pounds of marijuana in 31 vacuum-sealed bags.

Hall's plea took place in June this year, and his rescheduled trial took place on Monday.
The court placed a $500,000 bond on Hall's release, and his lawyer, Richard Hornsby, filed a motion to reduce the amount. The motion cited that Hall was suffering from mental health challenges, including diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
"An objective review of Mr. Hall’s background, family situation, mental health struggles, and age, suggests Mr. Hall was likely in a perceived financial strain and viewed purchasing cannabis in California and reselling it in Florida as a innocuous, yet quick way, to make money to help his family and himself during what is obviously a stressful situation,” Hornsby wrote in the motion.
Orange County Judge Jenifer Harris accepted the motion but insisted that Hall would serve a year and a half of probation.
A glimpse into Agiye Hall's college football career

Agiye Hall committed to Alabama in 2021. In his first season with the Tide, he posted 72 yards on four receptions. Hall was part of the Alabama team that made it to the national championship game. However, the Crimson Tide lost to Georgia in the final.
Before the 2022 season, Hall transferred to Texas. He featured in three games for the Longhorns but was suspended after his arrest for criminal mischief.
Hall has not played football since then. He was set to join UCF for the 2024 season, but his probation will force him to miss the season.
