"He just don't want Juju to transfer" - CFB fans react to Deion Sanders' comments on Colorado's QB1 battle ft. Kaidon Salter

Deion Sanders commented on the quarterback situation at Colorado during his session at the Big 12 media days on Wednesday, drawing reactions from fans on the internet. The Buffaloes face the tough task of replacing the school’s record-setting quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, in 2025 after he made his way to the NFL.

Colorado recruited blue-chip quarterback Julian Lewis in the class of 2025 and added three-year starter Kaidon Salter via the transfer portal. With the battle for the starting role still on between the two, Sanders was questioned about his quarterback plan in Frisco, Texas.

“We brought both of them because I don’t know which one is going to start,” Sanders said (via On3's X handle).

A reporter followed up with a related question, asking Deion Sanders if Colorado might utilize two quarterbacks this fall and whether they could rotate both during games.

“Yeah. Long as they’re doing their jobs and we’re winning,” Sanders said. “We definitely want to continue to develop JuJu (Lewis), but Kaidon is unbelievable. Kaidon is off the chain. He’s been there, done that; he can get the job done. I wouldn’t have brought him here if I didn’t trust him."

“But JuJu is coming around the mountain when he comes. And I love him, I love what he brings to the table. I don’t know how it’s going to play out, as long as it plays out. We can’t lose either way, with either of those two," Coach Prime added.

Deion Sanders' response to the quarterback race at Colorado generated several reactions from college football fans. Many believe the coach is fighting only to keep Lewis at the program, as Salter, with his experience, is projected to start for the team next season.

Juju decided to decommit from usc to go to Colorado to start as a true freshman. If he knew Prime was going to bring in a starter, Juju wouldn't have left usc and I am happy he left Longstreet is the truth!

Deion Sanders offers his view on Colorado's wide receiver room

After addressing the situation at the quarterback role, Deion Sanders was also questioned about the wide receiver room. The unit has lost an impact player in Travis Hunter, who won the Biletnikoff Award in 2024. Nonetheless, the coach is optimistic about the room.

"They are unbelievable. They are awesome. I can't wait to unleash them. They're great. Now you got to understand, they're replacing some dogs that all of them are will be in a profession. All four of them will be in a professional camp from a year ago," he said.

“But these young men are unbelievable. I can't wait 'till the world gets a glimpse of these receivers. We have some youngsters, from freshmen on up, that can flat-out go get it. And I'm proud. I'm proud of our recruits, our coaches. I'm proud of what we've brought into Boulder, Colorado," he added.

Deion Sanders and his staff have made significant additions to the wide receiver room via the transfer portal to boost the competition. The Buffs brought in Sincere Brown, Hykeem Williams, Joseph Williams, and Jack Hestera into a unit that already had the likes of Omarion Miller and Drelon Miller.
