Nick Saban spent 17 years with the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, making the program one of the best in the country. His unexpected retirement was quite shocking for the fans, with many of them asking him to make a comeback.

According to Bama 247’s Mike Rodak, there was one way to potentially bring back Coach Saban. If some of his senior players had decided to return for one more season as well, the college football world might not have had to live in a post-Saban era.

Here is what Rodak said, quoting Nick Saban's comments from the 2024 NFL Draft coverage:

“After having five of his Alabama players chosen in the first 57 picks, Nick Saban jokes on ABC, “if they would’ve come back, I would’ve come back.”

Coach Saban, who has an $80 million net worth according to celebrity net worth, had a coaching career that spanned over five decades.

In that timeline, he won seven national titles with two different college programs. While his first national championship game was with LSU in 2003, the other six were from Alabama.

Even in his last season, he led the team to the playoffs. Three of his players, JC Latham, Dallas Turner and Terrion Arnold, were also picked in the first round of the 2024 draft.

Nick Saban raved about Kool-Aid McKinstry after second round selection

Kool Aid McKinstry was one of the five Alabama players selected in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The cornerback was expected to be a first-rounder but was ultimately picked up by the New Orleans Saints with the 41st overall pick. After his selection, the former Alabama star received impressive reviews from Nick Saban, who appeared on ABC to cover the draft.

“This is another guy that has great football intuition, great instincts. He understands offenses, he understands feather matches. He is really a fast reactor in the secondary,” Saban said about McKinstry.

According to the 72-year-old legend, the cornerback offers a versatile skill set as a football player. He backed him by saying that McKinstry was ready 'more than anybody else' in the NFL. It remains to be seen which of his players becomes the next big thing in the league.
