This week, the Bulldogs play the non-conference UMass Minutemen but, will Bell play in this game on Saturday, November 23?

Dillon Bell Injury Update

This week, Georgia coach Kirby Smart gave an update on Bell, who was injured during last week's game against the Tennessee Volunteers. He said:

“It’s (his) ankle. I don’t know if it’s got a high component. We looked at it tonight. He was not able to go. I don’t know how severe it will be or how long it will be. It’s just — I mean, look, guys, there’s a bunch of injuries.”

Bell left the game against the Volunteers in the second quarter and did not return to the field. He was later seen with a boot on his foot. He had only recorded 12 receiving yards from two receptions before his injury.

However, his absence did not cost the Bulldogs the game. They cruised to a convincing 31-17 win over Tennessee in what was their final game of conference play.

As well as the injury to Bell being confirmed to be to his ankle, the Bulldogs received further news on his condition later in the week. He will not have to have surgery on it. This would have taken him out for the rest of the season, meaning that a return to the Bulldogs is likely.

Will Dillon Bell play against UMass this weekend?

Georgia don't have to release an injury report for their game against UMass as they are playing non-conference opponents. However, it is likely that Dillon Bell will not play against the Minutemen this weekend.

Not playing in this week's game will allow him to be fully rested and recovered from the injury. He will then likely be able to make a comeback in next week's game against rivals the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets more than likely.

However, even if he did play this week, it is likely that it would not have been for long. The Minutemen have only two wins on the season, and the Bulldogs are heavy favorites to defeat them.

Expect to see many of the usual starters play only the first quarter and then sit out the rest in order to prevent an injury. It could become a blowout victory that will have little impact on the Bulldogs' season.
