Is Tre Harris playing this week? Ole Miss WR's availability for Week 14 examined

Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris is a concern for Lane Kiffin and Co. ahead of the Rebels’ week 14 Egg Bowl matchup against Mississippi State on Thursday. He was listed as questionable earlier in the week owing to the groin injury he re-aggravated during the Rebels’ 24-17 loss to the Florida Gators on Nov. 23.

Is Tre Harris playing tonight?

Fans were hopeful to see Harris in action, but Ole Miss’ Thanksgiving night Availability Report downgraded the wide receiver's status to doubtful, casting a huge shadow over his availability.

Harris has struggled with injuries this season, missing over three games. While he is critical for Kiffin’s offense, the Ole Miss coach hasn’t been able to utilize his full potential.

Kiffin addressed Harris’ status on Monday, explaining that the star wideout seeks additional medical opinions.

“He’s still figuring things out. We’re focused on winning this game and the Egg Bowl,” Kiffin said. “So I don’t know much more than that right now. I don’t know that (about his mental state). “I don’t know whether they take that in. I don’t know that answer. I know a lot of people do it…”

"Just a freak situation. He got hit right on the same injury. Exactly, right where it was, and then dropped the ball because of it. Obviously the injury happened, we don’t get the catch and we miss the field goal, too… A lot of bad breaks today. It is what it is. Sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don’t."

Nevertheless, he leads the SEC with 1,030 receiving yards. His 43-yard touchdown grab in the first half against Florida showed his potential, but his outing was cut short as he was again sidelined.

Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart also gave his two cents on Harris' situation, saying:

"It sucks. ou never want to see your best friend or a teammate go down. He’s done everything he could to come back. Just feel horrible in that situation. Hopefully he can find a way to come back."

The Rebels’ offense faces a tall task without Tre Harris as they prepare to take on their fierce in-state rivals in the Egg Bowl matchup.
