Travis Hunter is enjoying a fine season with the Colorado Buffaloes thus far. However, during an appearance on the "Outta Pocket with RGIII" earlier this month, the two-way star opened up on the vulnerability he felt after receiving criticism in the offseason from former players turned analysts.

"I always try to have a conversation about it, cause I don't want no drama." Hunter said. "I'm just laid back. I don't want people talking about me and then I say something bad then they take it the wrong way. Because that's not who I am."
"I'm just a goofy guy who want's to play football and have fun with everybody I play with. I know a lot of stuff hurts us," Hunter added. "We still kids at the end of the day. I’m nothing but 21. Shedeur is 22, so it still hurts us. We have never been in this position before."

Hunter transferred to Colorado in the 2023 offseason, following coach Deion Sanders from Jackson State. There was a lot of hype around the program; however, after a bright start last year, the Buffs fell apart and posted a dismal 4-8 record, failing to secure a bowl game.

Ahead of the 2024 season, many analysts and former football players ruled out Colorado being a serious team. However, Sanders and his boys proved many wrong, even getting ranked as the 23rd-best team in the country by the AP Poll after Week 9. Hunter has played a pivotal role in the Buff's turnaround this season.

Travis Hunter has been contributing immensely to Colorado's success this season, both offensively and defensively. As a wideout, he has posted 757 yards on 60 receptions and caught eight touchdowns in eight games.

From a defensive standpoint, he has racked up 20 total tackles, of which 13 have been solo, eight passes defended, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

Hunter's two-way displays have seen him enter the conversation for the Heisman Trophy this year. However, to win that award, he will need to keep up those high standards for the remainder of Colorado's regular season.
