The 21-year-old, who has been a favorite for the Heisman since the 2024 college football season began, saw his odds surge to -10000 (per FanDuel) after the Oklahoma game, making him the runaway favorite for college football's most prestigious award.

Hunter, a two-way phenom, capped his regular season with three receiving touchdowns and a game-changing interception.

However, fans questioned the legitimacy of his odds, with one X user writing:

"Travis Hunter will be one of the most undeserving Heisman winners ever. Nothing but his popularity will get it for him."

"😂 Heisman becomes an absolute joke if Jeanty doesn’t win in," said another.
One user commented, "A game against a 3-win team where they purposely padded his stats is what pushes him over the top? Y'all are crazy."
An X user tweeted, "If Jeanty doesn't win. We know now that the Heisman is won based on popularity and not performance."

"He’s good, he also played in 0 big games. Lost to Kansas when they had a path to the playoff. Insane he’s that big of a favorite over another guy having a historic season," said one more.
One fan chimed in, saying, "Media hype job"

Nonetheless, Hunter’s achievements this season are undeniable. He started the season with +6500 odds, and his rise is the perfect example of one of the most stellar individual campaigns in recent memory.
