New Mexico vs. San Diego State: Game Summary
After exchanging punts, New Mexico drew first blood on the back of a 51-yard touchdown scamper from Eli Sanders with under nine minutes left in the opening period.
San Diego State responded with a 22-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3, but it didn't take long for the Lobos to respond. Sanders broke loose for a 68-yard touchdown, giving New Mexico a 14-3 lead with 2:32 left to play in the first quarter.

San Diego State responded with a field goal in the opening minutes of the second quarter, cutting New Mexico's lead to 14-6. The Aztecs forced a three-and-out with under five minutes left in the half and capitalized with an eight-play, 65-yard touchdown drive, bringing the score to 14-13 going into halftime.
San Diego State managed the only points of the third quarter with a 28-yard field goal, giving the Aztecs a 16-14 lead entering the fourth quarter.
New Mexico was quick to respond, marching 65 yards in nine plays to take a 21-16 lead with a touchdown in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. The Lobos held on to their lead, securing a 21-16 win over San Diego State.
