The Oregon Ducks' highly rated tight end, Terrance Ferguson, was named to the prestigious John Mackey Award watch list, which recognizes the best tight end in college football. The last winner was former Georgia Bulldogs star Brock Bowers who was picked No. 13 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Ferguson had aspirations of going to the NFL this year via the draft but Oregon coach Dan Lanning managed to sway his decision to stay in Eugene for an extra year.
Last season, Ferguson registered 42 receptions for 414 yards resulting in 6 touchdowns to make him one of the most productive tight ends in college football as the Ducks missed out on a Pac-12 championship and college football playoff place narrowly to the Washington Huskies.

Ferguson's fiancee, Sophia Meyer, whom he proposed and got engaged to a fortnight ago, reposted the graphic of the tight end's nomination to the John Mackey Award on her Instagram stories.
She captioned it:
"Proudest."

Terrance Ferguson and Meyer have dated since high school, while the Oregon prospect attended Heritage High School in Colorado.
He proposed to Sophia Meyer last month with a lush backdrop tinged with the Rocky mountain ranges. Their Australian Labradoodles Obi and Oso were the only other witnesses to the intimate moment.
The tight end shared the pictures from the event on Instagram with a caption from the Bible:
“♱ “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres," Terrance Ferguson wrote.
Terrance Ferguson on the cusp of making Ducks history
Terrance Ferguson is on course to make Oregon Ducks history. He could break the program's record for most receptions by an Oregon player, needing just 33 more receptions to accomplish this feat, which is currently held by the great Ed Dickson.
He is also only three touchdown receptions away (13) from breaking the program record held by Josh Wilcox (15).
After spring training, while speaking to reporters during a news conference, Oregon coach Dan Lanning was full of praise for Ferguson's work ethic and talent.
“Terrance Ferguson has busted his absolute tail (and) put himself in a great position to be a great player for this program,” Lanning said.
The Oregon Ducks are one of the teams tabbed to be contenders for both the Big Ten championship and the college football playoffs next season and Terrance Ferguson is a huge part of why their fans have such high hopes in the team.
